Surf Terminology

How does a surfer act and speak, you may ask. Maybe you have watched a surfing movie and heard the phrases ‘Hang Ten’ or ‘wipe out’, or been soaking up the sun on the beaches of Hawaii and heard the phrase ‘Hang Loose’ and wondered what does this mean. Surfers have their own lingo when it comes to talking about the subject they love the most: surfing. Why not check out this link of surfing terms and be on your way to learning the popular surfing lingo prior to hitting the waves yourself. You can learn the popular surfing terms and phrases to describe the water, about surfing maneuvers and techniques, and about the people and the surfboard.

Being able to understand these terms may come in handy when you are out there on the waves and
hanging ten yourself, or if you find yourself in need of a surfboard repair after a wipe out.

Surfing Lessons in Los Angeles!

Ok so obviously our geographical options for finding surf lessons are limited.  But Los Angeles provides a unique opportunity to learn how to surf.  The comparatively warm climate (LA people thing it gets 'cold' in the winter there, but those of who know what it's like elsewhere envy the 'cold season' there).  Even during the 'cold' months, the waters here are surfable.  In addition, thanks to the vibrant social life here, there are plenty of other things to do here.  So if you're looking to vacae anywhere AND want to learn how to surf, consider Los Angeles California!
